چکیده

Vermicomposting of organic waste has an important part to play in integrated management strategy. The aim the present study was investigate ability epigeic earthworm Eisenia foetida transform anaerobically digested sewage sludge (SS) amended with hazelnut husk (HH) and cow manure (CM) different proportions under laboratory condition (in darkness at 25°C0,5 0C). Two approaches investigated were: (1) find best medium for growth reproduction E. feed mixtures, (2) analyze heavy metal concentrations mixtures SS-HH-CM before after vermicomposting, (3) explore metals accumulation earthworms mixtures. Number biomass contents were periodically monitored. results indicated that maximum attained mixture 20% SS + 40% CM HH while number highest 30% 35% during vermicomposting period. Heavy concentration (Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb, Ni Cr) all decreased associated increasing time. metals’ content lower than initial Metal analysis revealed considerable bioaccumulation their bodies’ tissue. body showed proportion promoted body.

بررسی تأثیر فضولات گاوی به عنوان عامل حجیم کننده بر غلظت فلزات سنگین در طی فرآیند ورمی‌ کمپوست لجن فاضلاب شهری

Background and purpose: Sewage sludge can contain heavy metals. This study aimed at investigating the effect of cow manure as bulking agent on concentration of heavy metals (cadmium, chromium, copper and lead) during municipal sewage sludge vermicomposting and compares that with standard levels. Materials and methods: In an experimental research, vermicompost was produced by mixing sewage slud...

Growth and Reproductive Performance of Eisenia Foetida in Cow Manure, Cow Manure + Sugarcane Bagasse, and Cow Manure + Sawdust Waste

Accumulation of sawdust and sugarcane bagasse can cause serious problems for the environment. In this study, we examined the growth and reproductive performance of Eisenia foetida in cow manure, cow manure + sugarcane bagasse (4:1, V/V) and cow manure + sawdust (4:1, V/V) waste and its effects on CO2 evolution. The results showed that the weight gain for E. foetida (live weight) per gram of dry...

Removal of heavy metals from anaerobically digested sewage sludge by isolated indigenous iron-oxidizing bacteria.

The removal of heavy metals (Cr, Cu, Zn, Ni and Pb) from anaerobically digested sludge from the Yuen Long wastewater treatment plant, Hong Kong, has been studied in a batch system using isolated indigenous iron-oxidizing bacteria. The inoculation of indigenous iron-oxidizing bacteria and the addition of FeSO4 accelerated the solubilization of Cr, Cu, Zn, Ni and Pb from the sludge. pH of the slu...
